“It is inspiring to see designers coming together, motivated by a simple and common passion to share their little ‘pet projects’, most of it are fun, humorous and simply a reflection of each unique personality. It is especially good to see it happening in S’pore since many in our community often think we lack such passion…not true. These designers clearly demonstrated the spirit of ‘don’t just sit around and talk, get up and do something’ and they did.   This is ‘designpreneur-ship’ in the making.   I look forward to seeing Littlethoughts again next year, the year after…..with more designers joining.”   Low Cheaw Hwei Senior Design Director, Philips Design Organising Chairman of ICSID Design Congress 2009 Board member of the Design Singapore Council

“There’s a diversity of quality original works on display and I hope they can be part of a long term exhibition that can be expanded in the near future. Some actually displayed that rare but well executed Asian identity which I find refreshing.   Overall I think this reflects well on the image & quality of Singapore design.   For a developed nation, we’re a nation with a surprising lack of identity and self esteem when it comes to aesthetics and art; from decision makers down to the masses, and I hope this exhibition together with a host of others in the Design Festival will spell the start of an awareness of good quality local design and celebrate a new chapter of confidence in the industry.”   Song Kee Hong Managing Director, DESIGN EXCHANGE

“I am really impressed by all the design works. Each design is unique and of good quality.   It was an excellent exhibition for me! I like the meaningful slogan of ‘Small Thoughts, Big Ideas’ and the illustrations.”   Pang Song Nguan Deputy Head of Department, Research and Development (S.E.A Design) SHIMANO (SINGAPORE) PTE.LTD

“It is very exciting to see a group a senior designers coming out to do something they do not usually do. It was a very big surprise for me to see the huge fans of the exhibition at the Opening which go to show that people still quite care about design.   In addition, I think this is a very good social event for the design society as it really brings people together. The number of different type of projects was also very interesting. However, if there is a theme, that would be even better.   From the perspective of process, as far as I understand, lots of people struggle alot during this stage, which shows the lack of supportive design environment in Singapore as a whole. However, you can see most of the people are determined and complete the project by alternative ways, which reflects the great spirit of Singaporean designers.   In terms of outcome, I think it is quite impressive. Many of the designs show small ideas but which are very useful and valuable to our daily life.”   Yen Ching Chiuan Director of Industrial Design Programme Assistant Professor, Department of Architecture NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF SINGAPORE
